Azerbaijan Design Forum 2019 organized

The event titled "Azerbaijan Design Forum 2019" was organized at the International Mugam Center on November 23. The event was organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Azerbaijan Digital Arts School (ADAS) and Graphic Design Azerbaijan (GDAZ) group.

The host of the event, founder of “Baku Bloggers School” - Yelena Sidorenko gave information about the forum. She said that the main purpose of the forum was to bring together Azerbaijani designers, exchange experiences and discuss and share the most innovative approaches to these issues.

The event also discussed the importance of Baku's recent inclusion in the UNESCO Network of Creative Cities, as well as the establishment of the Azerbaijan Design Council.

Vasif Eyvazzadeh, Deputy Chief of Administration of the Ministry of Culture - Head of the Department for International Cooperation and Innovative Development, said that Baku's accession to the UNESCO Network of Creative Cities is a historic event for our country: “In total, this network includes 246 cities. Cities are included in this list in the categories of arts and crafts, folk art, design, cinema, gastronomy, literature, media and music.

According to the head of the department, the network considers innovation and creativity as a key factor in the sustainable and more inclusive development of the new city strategy: “It will help us to develop the creative industry in Baku and our regions, as well as implement innovative projects. The main goal here is to comply with the conditions of inclusive urban development. We believe that the central executive authorities will also play a special role in the work done in this area. On the occasion of this historic event, special work will be done to brand the city. This will have a serious impact on the flow of tourists to our country. Currently, the General Plan of Baku is being prepared. In the future, we will try to form a creative center in Baku. We believe that these projects will strengthen the status of Baku as a creative city.”

Emin Guluzade, CEO of “PeopleBrand” companu, Chingiz Safarov, Managing Partner of “Safaroff” company, Vusala Karimova, representative of ADAS, Rasul Hasan, Creative Director of “Meteor” company, Azer Mammadli, illustrator of “Trade Mark Leo Burnett” company, Ziya Suleymanzadeh, graphic designer of GDAZ group and Aliheydar Gasimov, a well-known expert in the field of advertising, made speeches at the forum and shared their views.

It should be noted that the Azerbaijan Design Forum is the first design forum held in the country since 2015, and annually brings together people working in this field.
